Zee was born on January 13, 1981 in Orange, California and was given the name Ginger Renee Zuidgeest. It is named after the character Ginger from the popular series Gilligan’s Island. Parents Dawn and Robert Zuidgeest moved the family to Michigan before Zee’s first birthday. His parents eventually separated and his mother remarried Carl Craft. The marriage resulted in Zee having two half-sisters, Adrianna and Elaina.
Zee attended Rockford High School in Rockford, Michigan and graduated in 1999. He then went to Valparaiso University, where he earned a degree in meteorology. He had developed an interest in the weather when he witnessed a water leak in Lake Michigan at the age of eight. After graduating, she decided to become a television meteorologist with the ultimate goal of working on The Today Show by the age of 30.
In August 2013, Zee got engaged to Benjamin Colonomos, a WNBC personality named Ben Aaron. They married in June 2014 and had their first child together, a son named Adrian, in December 2015. In August 2017, Zee announced that she was pregnant with her second child. In February 2018, the couple welcomed their second child Miles into the world. The family lives in Manhattan.
Her name which was derived from the popular series Gillian Island has given her much identity which has kept her souring higher in greater heights.
