Jeff Barnaby Illness, What disease did Jeff Barnaby die from? – Raised on the Listuguj Reserve in Quebec, Jeff Barnaby helmed many short films, including the Jutra Award-nominated “The Colony” and the Genie-nominated “File Under Miscellaneous.”
The Montreal-based writer-director gained acclaim for his 2013 debut feature “Rhymes for Young Ghouls.”
He followed that up with the 2019 zombie horror film “Blood Quantum,” which swept the Canadian Screen Awards.
Barnaby was born on a Mi’kmaq reserve in Listuguj, Quebec. He graduated from both the Dawson College and Concordia University film programs.

Barnaby began his career directing short films. Barnaby’s short film From Cherry English won two Golden Sheaf Awards: Best Aboriginal and Best Videography in the 2004 Yorkton Film Festival. His 2010 short film File Under Miscellaneous was nominated for a Genie Award for Best Live-Action Short Drama.
Barnaby leaves behind his wife Sarah Del Seronde and son Miles.
The Canadian Mi’gmaq filmmaker, best known for films such as ‘Blood Quantum’, has passed away after a battle with cancer.
