Is Neal McDonough LDS?

McDonough grew up a Catholic. Raised in Barnstable, Massachusetts, he graduated from Barnstable High School and attended Syracuse University, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, graduating in 1988 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

His college roommate was Brett Pollock, current broadcaster for the Pacific Coast League’s Omaha Storm Chasers. Often appearing as “Captain Laser”, McDonough inspired young students to pursue their degrees.

McDonough is married to Ruvé Robertson, with whom he has a son, Morgan Patrick (born November 2005), and three daughters, Catherine Maggie (born May 14, 2007), London Jane (born January 11, 2010) and Clover Elizabeth (born 15th, 2011).

Neal McDonough is an actor who has dedicated his life to Christ, and his work reflects that. He’s starred in some of the most popular shows on TV, including DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES and MINORITY REPORT, as well as PROJECT BLUE BOOK, which is currently airing its second season.

McDonough shares his faith openly onscreen, and he always aims to use his platform to share God’s word with others. In a recent interview with Christianity Today magazine (CT), McDonough discussed how being saved by grace has changed not only his personal life but also the way he approaches acting:
“When you’ve come into a relationship with Jesus Christ as your savior…everything changes,” he says plainly. “You can’t do it for other people or expect them [to] change; they have to come themselves…But you’re set free from all this striving because His purpose for your life was already written in heaven long before you were conceived.

As someone whose career was built on portraying Christian characters – both on- and off-screen – it’s interesting to hear Neal McDonough talk about how salvation has given him a new perspective when performing roles or working within the creative process altogether. It’s clear that communicating biblical truths through entertainment is something that deeply resonates with him, and he uses his platform to share those messages freely with everyone who will listen.
