Taylor Hanson is no longer the boy who sang “MMMBop.” Since then, he has grown and embarked on a new path in his music career.
According to Variety, the 40-year-old musician has started his The Voices Project to help Iranians.
“The idea of The Voices Project came about as a point of contact, as a gateway to contact [Iranian] issues in another way,” he said. “I hope it will be Octane to unify this whole movement.”
One of his goals for this project is to rework Shervin Hajipour’s famous song ‘Baraye’.
Known as a song calling for change and movement, the song seems to fit her cause well in supporting the non-profit organization For Women’s Life Freedom. “This broke my heart,” said the musician. “I don’t think I have ever been able in my life to ask myself whether there is a difference between the Iranian government and the Iranian people.
“The (Iranian) government was seen as not on our side. But it is the (Iranian) people who are oppressed.”
An interesting fact about this project is that it was recorded at his Henson Studios in Los Angeles. This is the studio that the USA For Africa worked with to record his world-famous song “We Are The World” in 1985.
The song is produced by Hanson and Hamid Saidi, a member of the Iranian-American group His Opium. It will also be joined by several other award-winning musicians in the field. Hanson expressed his passion for both music and movement by creating this project and working with a non-profit organization.
“My thought was, ‘How can this movement breakthrough?’ Music can really play a role here.”
“Music is always powerful,” he continued. “This admissions event in Henson said, ‘They need to see what’s going on in Iran. We can’t ignore it. We have to work for it.'”

Although he achieved great success as a child, he remained relatively unremarkable in his teens and into adulthood.
It’s also worth noting that while Hanson is no longer a household name in the industry, he’s still very active in producing, recording, and releasing music. His reported net worth is $20 million.
He has been involved in music for years since he and his brother co-founded 3CG Records. He is also a member of the band Tinted Windows.
