DeAndre Hopkins is a National Football League (NFL) player who began his professional career in Houston Texas after being selected in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Prior to that, he played college football at the University of Clemson (2010-
2012), where he emerged as one of the most prolific offenses in college football.

DeAndre Rashaun Hopkins was born in Central, South Carolina on June 6, 1992, the son of Sabrina Greenlee and Harris Steve Hopkins. He was raised by his mother Sabrina and his siblings Kesha Smith (sister), Marcus Greenlee (brother), and Shanterria Cobb (sister) after his father died in a car accident.

He attended DW Daniel High School in his hometown and was active in sports there, apart from playing soccer, he also ran track and played basketball. After the Lions basketball team won its third South Carolina State Championship in his senior season (2009–10), Hopkins was named Post Independent Player of the Year. In football, he recorded 23 touchdowns on both offense and defense, 57 receptions for 1,266 yards, and 28 interceptions.

DeAndre Hopkins signed to play with the ClemsonTigers football team at Clemson University, where he studied community recreation, sports, and camp management from 2010 to 2012. While at Clemson, Hopkins was the school’s leading receiver and in 2012 had one of the best receiving spells in ACC history.

In his freshman and sophomore seasons (2010-2011), he recorded nine total touchdowns for 1,615 yards with 52 receptions. He had an ACC-best 1,405 yards on 82 receptions and a school-record 18 touchdowns (second in the nation) to earn First Team All-Conference honors.
