Geldof was knighted by Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II in 1986 for his charity work in Africa and is often referred to as “Sir Bob”. His philanthropic work has been ongoing since the 1980s and Geldof currently serves as an advisor to the ONE Campaign and is a member of the Africa Progress Panel.
He has also advocated for fathers’ rights in the past, drawing on his experience as a single parent following the death of Paula Yates, his ex-wife, and the mother of his daughters. Geldof was given full custody of their three children, and after Yates died of a heroin overdose in 2000, he adopted their daughter Tiger. He now lives in South London with his wife Jeanne Marin.
He rose to fame as the lead singer of the Boomtown Rats in the 1970s. Some of the band’s most-played tracks are “Rat Trap” and “I Don’t Like Mondays”. Fifi Trixibelle Geldof
Fifi is the first child of Bob and Yeats and was born in 1983. She is a make-up artist and married sand sculptor Andrew Robertson in Kent in 2016 in the same church where her mother and sister are buried. In 2019 Fifi paid tribute to her late sister on Peaches’ 30th birthday, adding that she is “thinking of her and missing her more than ever”.
Jeanne Marine
Jeanne Marin is a French actress who starred in films such as Braveheart. She married Geldof in 2015 after an 18-year relationship. Bono, Richard Branson, Demi Moore, and Marianne Faithfull were among the guests at their wedding in France. Speaking about her marriage on The Tommy Tiernan Show last year, Marin Geldof said the intimate side of her relationship with her was “simple”.
“You have to be very careful because the beauty of a long-married woman is in her eyes. And you should always look for the woman who revives you to re-electrify you. I’ve been at this for 25 years, I’m something of a devil for a woman.”
Peaches Geldof
Geldof’s second child with Yates is Peaches, who was a model and worked in television. She married American musician Max Drummy in Las Vegas in 2008, but the marriage ended in divorce in 2011.
Peaches married Thomas Cohen, lead singer of the London band S.C.U.M, in 2012 and gave birth to their sons Astala and Phaedra in 2012 and 2013.
In April 2014, Peaches died of a heroin overdose at her home at the age of 25. The medical examiner determined that her cause of death was opiate poisoning. Peaches had been on methadone for two-and-a-half years before her death but switched back to heroin in February 2014. Geldof said the family was “beyond the pain” after confirming the news of her death.
During an appearance on The Tommy Tiernan Show last year, Geldof said his grief in the years since his daughter’s death had been “agonizing”. “Time doesn’t heal, time adapts, it’s permanent,” he said. “You wash your heart out and leave, the grief is bottomless and hidden. I didn’t understand why I lost everything I believed to be true.”
Pixie Geldof
Pixie, the third daughter of Geldof and Yates, is a model and singer. She has appeared on the covers of magazines such as Tatler and has been the face of advertising campaigns for Levis, Agent Provocateur, and more.
She inherited her father’s love of music and is the lead singer of the band Violet. She was supposed to DJ at Coachella in 2014 but canceled after the death of her sister Peaches. She married These New Puritans drummer George Barnett in Mallorca in June 2017 and the couple has one child together, who was born earlier this year.
